You must hang out on the ceiling before you attach the glass. I have it on a dimmer. I had my contractor install it so I think it was pretty easy lol

This chandelier is a lot nicer than I thought it would be. You have to put the glass pieces on one at a time, but they are packaged well and made from thick glass. Once all the individual pieces are put on, it is quite heavy so I’d suggest hanging it and then putting the pieces on.
